To collectively grow in grief, love in loss, and dream the death that we desire.

Our mission is to find collective paths to living with death and loss. In finding purpose, peace, and possibility in grief, we create a shared future of health, joy, and liberation.

Mission

about good mourning club

Death is a life-long experience, inevitable, universal and profound. Dying, loss, and grief are not problems that can simply be solved or healed before we "move on." We experience them throughout our lives in different ways, durations, frequencies, and magnitudes. Death moves us and changes all of us, yet there is no single “right” way to engage with it.

Good Mourning Club is a growing project in which we draw from individual and collective creative power to reimagine our life with death and loss, including through facilitated conversations, shared resources, guided legacy building, music, and art. There is power and possibility, hope and strength in living with grief.

We will have more information on Good Mourning Club soon. Join the Substack for updates.

Who we are

We started the Good Mourning Club because we ourselves are continuously learning how to live with death and loss. During this process, we understood that doing this work with each other– our friends, (chosen) family, and community–gives us the purpose, courage, and strength that we do not have alone. We believe everyone should have the same access to collectively grow in grief, love in loss, and dream the death that they desire.

We draw from our collective backgrounds and expertise in health, medicine, law, advocacy, tech, design, and art to explore how we can better shape our lives and society around death and grief. We look forward to welcoming you to the Good Mourning Club and working with you.

Upcoming Projects

To further these goals, we are raising funding to support the following projects

Donate

Good Mourning Club Care Package

Free Toolkit for Grief Digital: Shareable and downloadable toolkit with strategies, tips, and links to resources in living with grief Mail Packages for families in grief: A package to help guide families with children meet loss and grief, with children’s books, youth-focused strategies, and other family oriented resources

Good Mourning Club App

A platform in which members can connect to each other and engage with the topics of death and loss in healthy, open, healing ways. By way of thoughtful prompts, customizable profile pages, and guided exchanges among members, it facilitates death planning, legacy preservation, and community building. It will also incorporate connections to external resources and services.

Good Mourning CLUB

We are called a Club because we want to be a Club! We want to create a community in which members can create, promote, and share stories, support, and strategies in living with their grief and loss. The club where we can “collectively grow in grief, love in loss, and dream the death that we desire.” Funding will help us build and administer the platform(s) to build GMC, digital and in person.

Good Mourning Club is currently building the foundations to create and promote creative, interdisciplinary approaches to a death-positive culture in which we normalize and incorporate death, grief, and loss into our daily lives.

Organizational Goals:
  • Foster a strong collaborative network with partners to create a robust referral network of services and care, share best practices, and enhance coordinated impact

  • Help shape best practices and models of care through advocacy and sharing lessons learned

  • Build organizational infrastructure and tools necessary to provide direct services as end-of-life partners, advocates, death doulas, medical and legal guide and help expand services to underserved communities

  • Promote ways in which the exploration of death, dying and grief can bring peace, community, and connection
